Fambot, a startup founded by former Instagram engineer Greg Karlin and CEO David Reich, has launched an “AI chief of staff” designed to alleviate the mental load of managing children’s activities, school events, and family logistics for parents. The product, developed by a team that includes Jason Morrow, formerly of Google and LinkedIn, aims to function as a proactive, full-time personal assistant for families. By integrating with email, calendar, and messaging platforms like WhatsApp, Fambot provides users with a daily checklist of tasks and upcoming events, leveraging a combination of AI models without training on user data.
Unlike other AI agents that primarily operate over text messages, Fambot offers a more comprehensive solution through web and mobile app interfaces, enabling the development of advanced features. The startup has tested its product with over 1,000 families, finding that its target demographic extends beyond dual-parent households to include single-parent and only-child families. Backed by $3.5 million in pre-seed funding from investors such as NextView Ventures and Baukunst, Fambot is currently available for free in beta on iOS, Android, and the web, with plans to price the service at a level comparable to a Netflix subscription upon full launch.
