The Ministry of Justice (MoJ) has announced the release of James Jobson, a 62-year-old man from Costessey near Norwich, following the dismissal of charges against him. Jobson had been remanded in custody after being charged with misconduct in public office for allegedly sharing details of properties housing asylum seekers, in connection with anti-immigration disturbances in Thetford ¹.

Norfolk Police informed the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) on Friday that new evidence had emerged which undermined the case against Jobson, leading to the discontinuation of the prosecution. Despite the charges being dropped on Friday, Jobson was not released from prison until the following day. The CPS confirmed that steps were taken to ensure his immediate release, and the MoJ stated that efforts were made to facilitate his prompt liberation ¹.
