A former teacher, Emily Drury, has been sentenced to four and a half years in prison after pleading guilty to sexually abusing a teenage boy. The victim impact statement read out in court described the abuse as something “no child should ever have to experience.” Judge James House KC noted that while Drury displayed kindness and compassion, her actions were motivated by selfish desires.
Det Con Julie Jode of Lincolnshire Police emphasized that Drury exploited her position of authority to manipulate a vulnerable young person. She was given a sexual harm prevention order, a restraining order for five years, and placed on the sex offenders’ register for 10 years. The victim has expressed feeling unable to enjoy being a child and still struggles with trust issues and avoiding social situations due to the abuse he endured.
